Yuan Kai Liu

I am interested in problems related to earthquake-cycle processes, active tectonics, and lithospheric deformation. My work involves using spaceborne geodetic techniques and statistical inference to constrain deformation mechanisms and material properties of the Earth’s interior. During my appointment at Stanford Geophysics with Prof. Howard Zebker's group, I will collect the latest-generation satellite data and develop scalable time-series products of ground displacements for active volcanoes worldwide, emphasizing open and reproducible observations for fundamental research and hazard monitoring. In parallel, I remain interested in collaborative extensions where observations and physical theory intersect, including satellite radar sensing of terrestrial water changes and the kinematics and dynamics of earthquake or volcanic systems.
